On November 22, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev delivered a welcoming speech at the plenary meeting of the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT). He stressed the significant role and contribution of the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation in the development of railway transportation and cooperation between railroads in the Eurasian Economic Union.

“Railways continue to ensure the sustainability of global supply chains in difficult economic conditions, which significantly mitigates their negative impact on the economies of our countries,” said Arzybek Kozhoshev.

At the same time, many negative forecasts in the transport industry regarding the total lack of containers, complete closure of borders, suspension of mutual settlements, etc. did not come true, said Oleg Belozerov, Director General of Russian Railways and Chairman of the CCTT.
The participants of the plenary session discussed in detail the prospects of the development of traffic flows in the Eurasian Economic Union. In particular they talked about the trans-Eurasian routes, increasing the competitiveness of rail and multimodal transportation and improving the port infrastructure.

In the context of promoting the development of container transportation by rail and multimodal transport, the importance of expanding services and geography of routes, in particular linear container services, implementation of logistics solutions for e-commerce goods and facilitation of international mail transportation by rail was noted.

Arzybek Kozhoshev noted that “a number of strategic plans have been developed in recent years under the auspices of the EEC to unite the efforts of the Commission, state authorities in the field of transport, railway administrations, leading international organizations and institutions to address prospective tasks of improving the efficiency of the EEU transport complex.

Participation in the event was a continuation of systemic work on the interaction between the Commission and the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transport within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the signed Memorandum of Understanding of January 18, 2017, as well as the Plan of interaction between the Department of transport and infrastructure of the EEC and the Secretariat of the CCTP for 2021-2022.
