February 28 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Africa. On the occasion of this date, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa N. Pandor exchanged congratulatory telegrams.
Sergey Lavrov’s message noted the positive dynamics of the development of Russian-South African friendly relations, which have reached the level of strategic partnership. At the same time, Moscow’s firm commitment to further constructive cooperation with Pretoria within the framework of the UN, BRICS, the Group of Twenty and other international organizations was emphasized. They also expressed readiness to continue working in order to increase mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, trade and economic, scientific and technical, military-technical and humanitarian fields.
The South African side confirmed Pretoria’s desire to expand fruitful ties with our country in bilateral and multilateral formats in the interests of the peoples of the two States.
