On November 17, on the eve of the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (IPC), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.A.Ryabkov had a conversation with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Chairman of the Cuban Part of the IPC R.Cabrisas.
In the confidential manner inherent in Russian-Cuban cooperation, topical issues of strengthening the strategic partnership between Moscow and Havana in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
There was a substantive exchange of views on key topics on the international and regional agenda. The firm position of both countries regarding the categorical unacceptability of the use of unilateral sanctions measures in violation of the UN Charter and generally recognized principles and norms of international law was noted.
The Russian side expressed unconditional support for Cuba in the issue of the speedy lifting of the illegal embargo of the island by the United States.
