On the meeting of Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia M.L. Bogdanov with the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Moscow Alemayehu Tegenu

On November 14, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, M.L. Bogdanov, received the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) in Moscow, Alemayehu Tegena, at his request.

In the course of the conversation the sides discussed in detail issues of further enhancing the mutually beneficial Russian-Ethiopian cooperation in various fields with a focus on expanding trade, economic and investment partnership, and intensifying cultural and humanitarian ties. At the same time a number of practical aspects of the preparation of the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Ethiopian Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Trade, which is scheduled in Addis Ababa on December 6-8 of this year were considered.

Alemayehu Tegenu informed him of developments in the military-political and socio-economic situation in Ethiopia and the government’s steps toward implementing the November 2 agreement in Pretoria, South Africa, on a cease-fire and the restoration of constitutional order in the northern FDRE in the Tigray region. The Russian side expressed support for Addis Ababa’s efforts to gradually stabilize the situation throughout the territory of friendly Ethiopia.
