On February 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry held the second meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission this year to consider appeals from citizens of the Russian Federation in connection with restrictions on their right to leave the Russian Federation.
At the meeting of the Commission, the appeals of 9 Russian citizens who had previously been denied registration/issuance of foreign passports to leave the Russian Federation due to their awareness of information constituting a state secret were considered.
After receiving the Commission’s requests, temporary restrictions on traveling abroad were lifted from three applicants by the decision of the heads of the organizations that established them.
Based on the results of consideration of the appeals of two citizens, the decisions on the establishment of time limits were found to be justified.
In three cases, it was decided to postpone consideration of the applicants’ appeals to one of the subsequent meetings of the Commission.
One appeal was withdrawn from consideration by the Commission at the request of the applicant.
The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled for March 23, 2022.
