On consultations between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Ma Zhaoxu

On March 10, consultations between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Ma Zhaoxu took place in the format of a videoconference.

The parties discussed in detail a number of key topics on the agenda of the UN Security Council, with an emphasis on the situation in Ukraine and on intergovernmental negotiations on the reform of the Security Council. Special attention was paid to the issues of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the UN General Assembly, the World Health Organization, the UN Human Rights Council, UNESCO, as well as within the framework of BRICS.

The talks once again demonstrated a high degree of mutual understanding and closeness of the positions of our states on the most important global issues, which fully corresponds to the spirit of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and China. Sergey Vershinin and Ma Zhaoxu confirmed the need to maintain traditionally close cooperation between the two countries in the UN and other multilateral platforms.
