On February 16, at the initiative of the Turkish side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.Cavusoglu.
The key topics of the international agenda were discussed. Sergey Lavrov informed about the ongoing work to promote the initiatives of the Russian Federation to ensure long-term legal guarantees of security in Europe. The Minister called on Turkey to contribute to the development of a constructive and responsible response to Russian proposals.
The situation in the south-east of Ukraine is considered. Sergey Lavrov stressed the unacceptability of Western actions leading to the accelerated militarization of this country, and the danger of rash development of military-technical cooperation with the Kiev authorities in the current conditions. It was noted that there is no alternative to strict compliance with the Minsk agreements and agreements reached within the framework of the Normandy format and the trilateral Contact Group.
Certain aspects of the settlement in BiH, Syria and Transcaucasia, as well as interaction within international structures, were touched upon.
The ministers held a “reconciliation of hours” on topical issues of the Russian-Turkish political dialogue and trade and economic cooperation.
