On February 14, at the initiative of the Iranian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

The parties reviewed the progress of work on the implementation of the agreements reached following the visit to Moscow of the President of Iran S.E.Raisi and negotiations with him of the President of Russia V.V. Putin.

The situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program was discussed in the context of ongoing negotiations in Vienna to restore its full implementation in the initially balanced configuration approved by the UN Security Council. The Ministers noted tangible progress in this important direction.

A thorough exchange of views took place on key international issues, including the unhealthy situation being whipped up by the West around Ukraine. Sergey Lavrov stressed that the propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies about “Russian aggression” against Ukraine pursues provocative goals, encouraging the authorities in Kiev to pernicious attempts to solve the “Donbass problem” by force.
