About the third meeting of the Khakimov Club

On November 17, the third session of the “Hakimov Club” discussion platform “Russia and Saudi Arabia: looking to the future” was held at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The participants of the event were addressed by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation M.L.Bogdanov, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Abdurrahman Al-Ahmed and Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen Ahmed Al-Wahayshi. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Russian Presidential Domestic Policy Department, the Association of Russian Diplomats, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Council of Muftis of Russia, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Asian and African Studies of M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Academy of Sciences of the Chechen Republic, a number of former Soviet and Russian ambassadors to the Middle and Near East, political scientists and experts.

The discussion covered key aspects of Russian-Saudi relations, including historical retrospective, and noted their significant intensification in recent years. The parties stressed the growing significance of the interaction between Moscow and Riyadh under the conditions of the new world order with an emphasis on economic and investment ties. Recommendations for further development of bilateral cooperation mechanisms were made.
