An outstanding diplomat and statesman, a true patriot who devoted his life to the service of his Motherland and the protection of its interests in the international arena, has passed away.
Vladimir Vladimirovich Makey was a true friend of Russia, who made a unique contribution to the comprehensive development of broad bilateral cooperation, integration construction of the Union State, strengthening of ties between the brotherly peoples of Russia and Belarus.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov has sent a telegram of condolence to the wife of his colleague to all of his family and loved ones.
Vladimir Makei will forever remain in our hearts as a man of broad soul and profound wisdom, a brilliant professional, comrade-in-arms and loyal comrade, who won love and respect not only from the citizens of his country, but also far beyond Belarus.
We will always cherish his memory.
