Inauguration of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as president of Kazakhstan took place in Astana.

He took the oath of office and officially assumed office. According to the results of early elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan on November 20, 2022, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was re-elected as the head of state for seven years.

“I solemnly swear that I will faithfully serve the people of Kazakhstan, strictly follow the Constitution and the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, guarantee the rights and freedoms of the citizens, and conscientiously perform the high duties of the President assigned to me,” announced Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

On behalf of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations, Dmitry Kobitsky, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council, has sent his congratulations on being elected President.

“I am confident that your activity as head of state will be marked by further successes in strengthening interstate ties, friendship and mutual trust between the Commonwealth states,” the message noted.

Recall that according to the Central Election Commission, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who had been president since 2019, was re-elected with 81.31% of the vote. The final turnout at the elections was 69.44%. A group of observers from the IPA CIS consisting of 67 people took part in the monitoring of the elections. In their conclusion they concluded that the held extraordinary elections of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan were held in compliance with the rights and freedoms of all participants of electoral process, they corresponded to generally recognized democratic principles and norms of organizing and holding free and fair elections, and also the international obligations of the Republic of Kazakhstan on providing rights and freedoms of all participants of electoral process.

The IPA CIS International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development monitored presidential elections in 13 countries: Azerbaijan (Baku), Armenia (Yerevan), Belarus (Minsk), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Russia (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Omsk, Astrakhan), Tajikistan (Dushanbe), Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Italy (Rome), China (Beijing), South Korea (Seoul), Romania (Bucharest), Turkey (Antalya, Istanbul) and France (Paris).
