On February 14, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Vershinin received Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen Ahmed Al-Waheishi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Al-Jaber and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdurrahman Al-Ahmed accredited in Moscow at their request.
During the conversation, a thorough exchange of views took place on the situation in YR. The participants expressed concern about the next round of escalation of the armed conflict in this Arab country. Possible ways of ending hostilities and working out solutions to the Yemeni crisis were discussed, and a common desire to strengthen coordination in the Yemeni direction within the framework of the UN was noted.
The Russian side expressed its opinion in favor of the speedy resumption of the inter-Yemeni negotiation process under the auspices of the UN as an alternative means of restoring the long-awaited peace and harmony in the Republic based on taking into account the opinions of all leading Yemeni political forces.
Some issues on the agenda of the upcoming 49th substantive session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva were also considered.
