On December 20, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, a regular meeting of the Government Commission on Compatriots Abroad (PCDSR) was held.
The Commission was attended by Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots L.I. Kalashnikov, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation T.N. Moskalkova, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation E.A. Primakov, representatives of the Presidential Administration and the Office of the Government of the Russian Federation, other interested federal and regional executive authorities, public organizations and foundations.
The main attention was paid to the discussion of the results and tasks of working with the Russian diaspora in the light of the thematic conference “Economic Cooperation” held in 2022: compatriots and regions of Russia. Responding to the challenges of the time”, regional and country conferences of compatriots. Sergey Lavrov noted the need to step up comprehensive work to support compatriots living abroad, protect their rights and legitimate interests, and cultural identity in conditions of unprecedented Russophobia and discrimination against representatives of the Russian foreign community in a number of foreign countries. As a result of the discussion, decisions were made on additional steps through the PCDSR to assist diaspora organizations in solving the issues they face.
The meeting approved the list of Russian compatriots to be awarded in 2022 with an Honorary badge, Diploma, Diploma and Letter of Thanks of the PCDSR.
