On January 9, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang.
The Russian Minister congratulated his Chinese counterpart on his recent appointment and wished him success in his responsible post.
The foreign ministers expressed satisfaction with the high pace of development of bilateral political dialogue and practical cooperation. The importance of the videoconference talks held on December 30, 2022 between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to ensure the further stable progressive development of the entire complex of Russian-Chinese relations was noted.
A number of topical issues on the bilateral, global and regional agenda were discussed. The rejection of the policy of the United States and its satellites to establish hegemony in world affairs, provoking confrontation with Russia and China for this purpose, interference in their internal affairs, attempts by the West to restrain the development of our countries by imposing sanctions and other illegitimate methods was noted. The unity of Moscow and Beijing’s approaches to the fundamental problems of world development is stated. A positive assessment was given to the constructive dialogue and the high level of bilateral coordination in the UN, BRICS, SCO, within the framework of the Group of Twenty, on the platforms of interaction with ASEAN and in other formats, which fully corresponds to the partnership and trust-based nature of relations between our countries.
The successful implementation of plans to combine the development of the Eurasian Economic Union and the “One Belt, One Road” initiative was noted.
Sergey Lavrov invited Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang to visit Russia at a convenient time.
