On January 29, a meeting between the leaders of the states took place in the capital of Chad, N’Djamena, the Sudan Tribune reports. The head of the Sovereign Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and President Mahamat Deby announced increased patrolling of border territories by both countries due to the tense situation on the Chad-Sudan-CAR border.

“To this end, they stressed the urgent need to strengthen the operational capacity of the mixed forces of Chad and Sudan to solve security problems that are increasingly emerging in the border areas of the two countries,” the Sudan Tribune quotes from a joint statement of the heads of state.

In addition, the representatives of the countries agreed to provide each other with information received by the security services. It is not the first time that the situation inside the African “triangle” has escalated. The last escalation of the conflict occurred in 2021 and was associated with the intensification of the activities of the rebels who did not recognize the results of the elections in the CAR.
