Fifty poplar seedlings appeared at the new Russian-Tajik school named after D.I. Mendeleev in the city of Tajik metallurgists – Tursunzade as part of the international action “Garden of Memory”, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
Poplar Alley was planted as part of the international action “Garden of Memory”, the purpose of which is to plant 27 million trees in memory of everyone who died during the Great Patriotic War.
“It’s important that there are a lot of guys here, and these trees are for you. So that you remember about today and take care of them. And years later, you will show and tell your children how important it is to remember the exploits of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who made our future possible, so that they carry this memory through the centuries,” the head of the representative office addressed the schoolchildren. The Garden of Memory is a movement uniting hundreds of thousands of caring people from all over the world around perpetuating the memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom. In addition, the campaign is aimed at solving urgent problems in the field of ecology – greening cities and towns, restoring forest plantations and reducing the carbon footprint.
The initiators of the action were members of the Victory Volunteers movement in Tajikistan – activists of the Public Organization of Russian Compatriots “Russian Community” in Tursunzade, with the support of TALCO (Tajik Aluminum Company), the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Tajikistan.
