Applications for the first Voronezh International Animation Festival, which will be held in the city from May 19 to 21, 2023, have been accepted. This is a screening of professional domestic and world animated films for an audience of all ages.
A special feature of the upcoming cultural event will be its format of a workshop, which will include not only screenings of animated films, but also master classes, round tables and creative meetings for a wide audience. The festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Voronezh Region. TV BRICS is an information partner of the event.
Full-length and short animated films and animated series were accepted to participate in the festival. The competition program of the festival will include Russian and foreign animated films created no earlier than January 1, 2021.
“We have received more than 800 animated films from 78 countries, including China, India, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Israel, Serbia, Belarus. In addition to works from professional animation studios, student works were also submitted, in connection with which we decided to add the nomination “Best Student Work”, – said Vladimir Nikolaev, director of the festival.
“We would like to further emphasize the practical orientation of our festival, the program of which will be interesting to both ordinary viewers and novice animators and other representatives of the creative industries. They will be interested in applied knowledge, which will be shared by recognized professionals of the animation industry at our master classes and creative meetings. Entrance to the screenings and master classes will be free, upon prior registration,” he added.
The number of applications submitted indicates the interest in the festival both within the country and abroad.
“Now we can say that children’s sessions will mainly consist of Russian paintings, and sessions for teenage and adult audiences will include more foreign animated films. This is due to the fact that the author’s animation abroad is mainly made for an adult audience, there are fewer author’s cartoons for children, which will reflect the global current trends in animation,” said Alyona Sycheva, program director of the festival.
The jury will include Russian and foreign professionals and representatives of the animation industry.
