President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting with journalists confirmed the country’s principled position on the development of cooperation with Russia, reports Akorda.

“Our citizens quite reasonably perceived the attempted mutiny with great concern,” Tokayev said.

He recalled that Kazakhstan and Russia have the longest state border in the world, the countries are in a single economic space, citizens are united by thousands of humanitarian ties and contacts.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev once again stressed that in a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation he expressed full support for his actions aimed at preserving and strengthening constitutional order and legality.

“There was no doubt about it, given the potential of the Russian state and the personality of its national leader. We even discussed the upcoming visit of the Russian President to Kazakhstan this fall,” the president said.

He noted that Kazakhstan’s position remains unchanged.

“I confirm Kazakhstan’s principled position on further strengthening multilateral cooperation with Russia in the format of a long-term and sustainable strategic partnership. I am sure that this position fully corresponds to the interests of our people,” he stressed.
