On July 17, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Moscow Nazih Nagari at his request.
During the conversation, a thorough exchange of views took place on key aspects of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. At the same time, special attention was paid to the prospects for resolving the crisis in Sudan and the Palestinian issue.
The Russian side highly appreciated the results of the meeting of the heads of States bordering Sudan held in Cairo on July 13 at the initiative of the leadership of the Arab Republic in terms of helping to stabilize the situation in that country. Egypt’s important role in efforts to achieve inter-Palestinian unity was also noted, including the holding of a meeting of leaders of all major Palestinian political forces in Cairo on July 30.
A number of issues related to preparations for the second Russia-Africa Summit to be held in St. Petersburg on July 27-28 were touched upon.
