The total budget of import substitution projects in Belarus with the participation of the Russian side is 80 billion Russian rubles (almost 2.7 billion Belarusian rubles), First Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus Alexander Ogorodnikov said.

“As of July 10, 2023, 17 passports of promising import-substituting investment projects have been approved with the Russian side, of which 13 have been approved for financing by the Commission on Industrial Policy,” the deputy minister is quoted as saying by the Belarus Today edition.

Loan agreements have been concluded for eleven projects, and the total amount for them is 53.8 billion Russian rubles (1.8 billion Belarusian). In particular, the money will be received by JSC Gomselmash for comprehensive modernization. They also intend to expand the production of bridges, boxes, assemblies and aggregates for combine harvesters.

Minsk Bearing Plant, Minsk Gear Plant, Vitebsk “Vistan” and BelAZ are also among the recipients of the money. In addition, in 4-5 years Belarus promises to produce the first aircraft for 19 seats. The Belarusian and Russian sides are investing equal shares in this project, but the total amount has not yet been named.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Viktor Yevtukhov reported that the planes are planned to be assembled in Baranovichi. Most likely, we are talking about L-410 (L-410). In Soviet times, these machines were produced at the Let Kunovice plant in Czechoslovakia (now it is the Czech company Aircraft Industries).

In 2018, the production of a more modern version of the L-410 was launched at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant in Yekaterinburg. Now such air vessels are operated by both military and civilian operators in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
