The sixth meeting of the High-level Working Group on the Caspian Sea (HLGWG) was held.
The delegations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (headed by S.A. Sharifov), the Islamic Republic of Iran (headed by A.Jahangiri), the Republic of Kazakhstan (headed by Z.A. Amanzholova), the Russian Federation (headed by M.I. Petrakov) and Turkmenistan (headed by M.G. Atajanov) took part in the negotiations.
The meeting was chaired by the head of the Turkmen delegation M.G. Atajanov.
The parties continued discussing the draft agreement on the methodology for establishing direct baselines in the Caspian Sea and agreed on a number of its provisions. The discussion of this document will be continued at the next meeting of the HLWG.
The meeting also discussed issues of preparation for the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Caspian states.
The delegations positively assessed the results of the negotiations and expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the high level of organization of the meeting.
The next meeting of the HLGWG will be held in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
