The EEC calculated how much mutual investments of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union have grown. Statistics for the first quarter of 2023 were published on September 20. The Commission revealed which countries of the Union were among the leaders in this indicator.
In January-March 2023, there was a significant increase in mutual investments in the EAEU countries compared to the same period last year, the press service of the EEC reports. Their volume amounted to more than half of investments for the whole of 2022 (64.3%).
According to the published statistics, the net inflow of mutual investments in Armenia and Kazakhstan has increased compared to the same period last year. Thus, mutual investments in Armenia increased 3.2 times, while in Kazakhstan they increased by 43%. At the same time, Belarus recorded a decrease in the flow of direct investments from the EAEU by 17.7%, and in Kyrgyzstan the decrease was 10.6%.
The main instruments of mutual direct investments were investments in the capital of companies and shares of investment funds. The EEC analysts note that Russia became the main investor in the EAEU, providing 86% of investments, and Belarus was the main recipient of funds, receiving 45% of the total.
It is also noted that direct investments in the EAEU countries from the rest of the world decreased in Armenia by 66%, in Belarus by 5%, but in Kazakhstan increased significantly – by 1.6 times.
Previously, the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin noted the growth of cooperation between the EAEU countries. Recall that despite the efforts of Western countries, integration processes in the Eurasian space are growing. In addition, pressure from the West opens up new opportunities for partners: this frees up the niches of the Russian market previously occupied by Western companies, stimulates the flow of Russian investments into the countries of the post-Soviet space.
