The central event of the country’s sports industry – the International Forum “Russia is a Sports power” – will be held in the capital of the Perm Region from October 19 to 22. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko, who heads the organizing committee of the forum.
“In the year of the centenary of the national sports management system and the 300th anniversary of Perm, the forum, which is held annually by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will become a synergy of two powerful anniversary programs. It will be attended by the best representatives of the sports industry, guests from regions and friendly countries. The forum’s events will allow to demonstrate the results of the work and outline plans in all areas – improvement of sports infrastructure, digitalization, sports industry, the calendar of competitions. I am sure that the government of the Perm Region will show hospitality and prepare a rich cultural and educational program for the participants of the Russia – Sports Power forum,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“The 11th forum will be a landmark event in the year of the 100th anniversary of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation as a state governing body in the field of physical culture and sports and the 300th anniversary of Perm. The topics of discussion will be the strengthening of the national sports system and issues of cooperation with countries and international organizations aimed at the development of sports and commitment to true sports values. We invite all people who are not indifferent to sports to Perm,” said Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin.
The organizing Committee of the forum is developing an official and sports program, as well as related cultural and social events. In particular, the international mixed martial arts tournament Ural Fighting Championship, a multi-sport basketball tournament with international participation, as well as a new technological tournament “Battle of Robots” will be held in Perm during the forum.
“We have been doing a lot of work for three years, fighting for the holding of large federal and international events in Perm in 2023. This is not a holiday for the sake of a holiday. We want to draw the attention of the whole country to the successes and achievements of the residents of the Perm Region in various industries and make sure that they themselves become participants in the anniversary events. We also hope that the large-scale events of Perm–300 will become a new impetus for the development of sports, culture and science not only in the Perm Region, but also in Russia as a whole,” said Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of the Perm Region.
The events of the forum will be held in the business and sports facilities of the city – this is the Perm Convention and Exhibition Center Expo”, the V.P.Sukharev sports complex, the all-season resort “Gubakha”, the socio-cultural space “Shpagin Plant”, as well as the embankment area and the city esplanade.
The International Sports Forum “Russia is a sports power” was established by the decree of the President of Russia on July 27, 2009. The event has received international status and is held annually. Every year the forum brings together more than 3 thousand people: Olympic champions, heads of branch executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation, sports federations and sports facilities, representatives of private business, journalists, experts of the sports industry.
