On October 30, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, a meeting of the Board of the Ministry was held on the topic: “On the priority areas of the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on the development of international relations of the subjects of the Russian Federation”.
The Board noted that in the current geopolitical situation, the role of interregional cooperation with foreign partners is increasing as an important mechanism for the implementation of Russian foreign policy interests, which contributes to strengthening the position of our country in the international arena, strengthening the foundations of its sovereignty and socio-economic development of the regions.
The central office of the Ministry, its foreign institutions and territorial bodies provide effective assistance to the subjects of the Federation in reorienting their international relations mainly to states whose governments pursue a friendly and neutral policy towards the Russian Federation.
Based on the results of the discussion, specific measures were identified to promote the expansion of interregional and cross-border cooperation of regions with foreign partners while ensuring the coordinating role of the Russian Foreign Ministry in carrying out a unified foreign policy of the country.
