On November 3, at the initiative of the Iranian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian.
The foreign ministers exchanged views on the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. General concern was expressed about the ongoing armed confrontation in the Gaza Strip. The need for an early ceasefire and the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected civilian population was stressed.
Sergey Lavrov informed his Iranian counterpart about Russian efforts through the UN Security Council aimed at de-escalating tensions and turning the situation into a political and diplomatic channel.
A number of other topical issues of mutual interest were also touched upon.
