On November 13, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov received the Representative of the spiritual leader of the Shiites of Iraq Ayatollah Ali Sistani in Russia, Sheikh Mahdi Mosuli.
During the conversation, an interested exchange of views took place on topical Middle East issues, with an emphasis on the situation in and around Iraq, as well as the unprecedented escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
A number of issues related to further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Iraqi relations, including the development of interreligious ties, were also touched upon.
