As part of the business program of the second day of the Forum of United Cultures in St. Petersburg, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova met with the heads of official foreign delegations.
As Olga Lyubimova noted, Russia stands for ensuring equal opportunities for interaction with cultures of foreign countries and “in order to promote the diversity of cultures in a multipolar world, it takes the initiative to launch two new formats of cooperation at once. We propose to create an independent open Eurasian Film Festival and a film award, as well as an Intervision music competition.”
The Minister invited her foreign colleagues to support this initiative and join these new formats of cooperation.
Konstantin Ernst, General Director of Channel One, told about the details of the initiative with a new music competition. Thus, the first competition under the working title Intervision is planned to be held next year, 2024, and in the future it will be held annually. “It will be a free podium where all countries will be able to present samples of their popular music,” Konstantin Ernst said. – The competition will be judged by a national jury, and there will also be a permanent organizing committee. We will have to determine the rules of the site together.”
The General Director of Channel One noted that “we have a lot of practice of participating in Eurovision, but recently there have been too many external influences on this contest. It seems to us that music should reach its listeners, bypassing any political bias. We want to create an international competition that will reflect the level of popular art from all countries of the world. We count on the active participation of the BRICS countries and invite everyone to join our initiative.”
