Arzybek Kozhoshev: “New opportunities have appeared in the context of global geopolitical changes”

The prospects of Eurasian integration in the field of energy resources and transport were announced by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Arzybek Kozhoshev at the plenary session of the Forum “Eurasian Economic Perspective – 2023”, which is being held on November 28-29 in St. Petersburg.

The EEC Minister outlined the situation with the use of renewable energy sources in the countries of the Eurasian “five” and the process of decarbonization of energy, as well as the need for the development and implementation of joint low-carbon technologies within the EAEU. “The development of renewable energy sources, low-emission (nuclear and hydrogen) energy, as well as issues of achieving carbon neutrality and environmental protection are among the tasks we face. At the same time, the EAEU has all the prerequisites for the implementation of these areas,” the EEC Minister believes.

Arzybek Kozhoshev noted the importance of the development of transport infrastructure in the Eurasian space, the formation of a common transport and logistics space and the development of Eurasian transport corridors. “Today, in the context of global geopolitical changes, new opportunities for the development of transport have appeared, the value of the common market of transport services and logistics in the EAEU has increased many times to ensure the sustainable economic development of our countries,” the minister stressed.

He also spoke about the work on the formation of a list of priority integration infrastructure projects in the field of transport, which will ensure the transport connectivity of the Eurasian countries and create a reliable transport framework on the continent. The EEC Minister stressed the importance of work on the preparation of a roadmap for the implementation of transport policy for 2024-2026, aimed at realizing the transit potential of the Eurasian countries.

At the end of his speech, the EEC Minister summed up that the implementation of these projects will ensure the transport connectivity of the Eurasian countries and create a reliable transport framework on the Eurasian continent.

On the sidelines of the Forum, a working meeting was held between Arzybek Kozhoshev and Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics Igor Maksimtsev, where prospects for the development of educational activities in the Eurasian Economic Union and the Eurasian Network University were discussed.
