As part of the work on the approximation of export regulation measures taken by the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and ensuring the effective functioning of the internal market, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission considered possible steps to ensure the balance of the durum wheat market.

Currently, the issue of the introduction by Member States of non-tariff regulation measures for the export of durum wheat is being discussed.

“According to expert estimates, the global production of durum wheat in the current agricultural year may decrease by about 8%, which creates a risk of a shortage in the market and may lead to an increase in prices for pasta, which belong to socially significant types of food products,” said the EEC Minister for Trade Andrey Slepnev. – In order to ensure the supply of Russian wheat to other countries of the Union in the volumes necessary for domestic consumption, the EEC Council adopted a corresponding instruction.”
