On December 14, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations held a working meeting between State Secretary – Deputy Minister Alexei Serko and Singapore’s Ambassador to Russia Mark Neo.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of protection of the population and territories from natural and man-made emergencies.
Alexey Serkov noted that the international activities of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations are exclusively humanitarian in nature. This allows you to build interaction with all services whose priority is saving human lives.
The joint work in the International Advisory Group on Search and Rescue (INSARAG) was noted as a positive example of interaction. So, in 2023, the international search and rescue teams of Russia and Singapore reacted together to a series of earthquakes in Turkey. In February of this year, in Singapore, specialists from the two countries took part in the annual meeting of the heads of units certified according to the INSARAG methodology.
The Russian side noted the high level of organization of the educational process at the Singapore Civil Protection Academy, and also discussed the possibility of training specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia at the university.
Mr. Mark Neo received an invitation from the Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Alexander Kurenkov, to participate in the XV International Salon “Integrated Security – 2024”, which will be held in the Moscow region at the end of May 2024.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations intends to continue cooperation with Singapore at relevant UN venues and within the framework of major APEC and ASEAN regional forums.
During the working meeting, representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Singapore visited the National Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, where they got acquainted with the Russian emergency response system, information systems, including space monitoring. The department’s specialists showed the work of the operational duty shift of the NCCC, which receives information about emergencies and fires from all regions of Russia. There are no analogues of the Center and its hardware and software complex in any country in the world.
