The results of the parliamentary elections held there on January 7 have been summed up in Bangladesh. Of the 300 parliamentary seats whose fate was determined during the voting, 222 were won by the ruling People’s League, which again managed to gain the support of the absolute majority of local citizens.
We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Bangladesh on the successful completion of the elections.
At the same time, some opposition political parties, unfortunately, refrained from participating in the electoral process. There were also attempts to influence him from the outside, as we have already mentioned on November 22 and December 15 last year. It is necessary to pay tribute to the leadership of Bangladesh, which in these conditions was able to create the necessary conditions for the free expression of the will of voters. The legitimacy of the elections and their compliance with generally accepted standards were confirmed by both local and numerous (more than 200 people) international observers, including Russian ones. The delegation of our country was headed by A.Y.Shutov, a member of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
On January 11, following the results of the elections, a new Government of Bangladesh was formed, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who previously held this post. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin sent their congratulations on taking office to her.
