On March 15, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov had a telephone conversation with Secretary of the PLO Executive Committee, member of the Fatah Central Committee Hussein Sheikh.
During the conversation, H.The Sheikh informed about the appointment of the Chairman of the Palestinian Investment Fund, Mohammed Mustafa, as the head of the technocratic government of Palestine, as well as about contacts between representatives of the Palestinian leadership in the capitals of several countries in the Middle East with a view to ending hostilities in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible and providing necessary humanitarian assistance to its residents.
The Russian side welcomed the decision to form a professional Palestinian government headed by a well-known Palestinian economist. At the same time, it was hoped that the new Cabinet of Ministers would effectively carry out its functions in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and enjoy the support of the entire Palestinian population.
