The international media network TV BRICS and the Chilean portal El Ciudadano signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement will allow the population of the Latin American country to receive the most up-to-date news about humanitarian and economic activities of BRICS member states and alliance supporters. At the same time, TV BRICS’ new colleagues can count on the fact that important news about their country will be directly available to all partners of the media network, which already includes more than 60 media outlets from 17 countries.
“TV BRICS is pleased to start cooperation with its Santiago colleagues in the year when Russia and Chile celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Partnership in the information sphere contributes to strengthening cultural exchange and humanitarian ties between our countries, as well as to the development of dialog and cooperation between BRICS countries and the global South,” – Anastasia Shishkalova, TV BRICS International Project Manager
Denis Rogatyuk, Director of International Cooperation at El Ciudadano, noted that multipolarity is growing in the modern world and this is supported by the countries of the global South. According to him, it is important for media companies to unite for a common cause and TV BRICS is one of the key initiatives in this direction.
“With nearly 18 years of experience, the El Ciudadano team hopes to help readers navigate the vast flow of information and present an independent view of international relations,” he said.
Founded in 2005, El Ciudadano adheres to the principles of independent journalism and promotes a social agenda. The portal publishes information and analysis covering news from Latin America and around the world. Its information is available in Spanish, English and French. El Ciudadano has offices in Chile and Mexico.
In the year of Russia’s presidency of the BRICS group, TV BRICS International Media Network is expanding its Spanish-language coverage. A Spanish version of the portal was launched in March 2024.
In March 2024, the Spanish version of the TV BRICS portal was launched and a cooperation agreement was signed with the Chilean portal Cronica Digital. At the moment, the media network’s partners include about a dozen media outlets in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to Chile, these include ANTV (Venezuela), teleSUR (Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua), Prensa Latina (Cuba), digital publications Ahora San Juan, BRICSLat, AsiaTv and Extra! (Argentina). In February 2024 alone, more than 70 TV BRICS pieces were posted on these resources. For example, teleSUR, one of the leading TV channels in Latin America, devotes an average of 90 minutes of its airtime each month to stories and programs produced by the media network.
