On March 28, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation M.Y. Galuzin, a meeting of the Governing Council of the Fund for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad (co-founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Rossotrudnichestvo) was held.

The meeting was attended by the members of the Board – Deputy Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers A.V.Kudimov, prominent Russian diplomat S.A.Ordzhonikidze, Director of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia A.B.Nurizadeh, the management of the Fund headed by its Executive Director A.I.Udaltsov, as well as Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo D.V.Polikanov.

The Governing Council approved the annual report of the Foundation for 2023 and the priority directions of its activities for 2024. Among the main tasks of the Foundation was confirmed comprehensive support of compatriots abroad, protection of their rights and interests, consolidation of representatives of Russian-speaking communities on a patriotic basis, strengthening of coordination structures, preservation of all-Russian cultural identity by compatriots, countering attempts to disunite and discredit the Russian world.

In his speech, Chairman of the Governing Board M. Galuzin noted that the importance of the Foundation’s human rights activities is especially growing in the conditions of the aggressive Russophobic campaign promoted by the “collective West” in many countries, when the Diaspora has become a target for increasingly sophisticated measures of politicized persecution and discrimination. According to him, in the current difficult situation, the Foundation remains a highly demanded human rights mechanism in the interests of foreign compatriots, primarily organized structures of the diaspora and its activists.
