Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva showed her Russian colleague Olga Lyubimova the Mikhail Lermontov Russian Drama Theater in Almaty.
The Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation wrote about this on social networks.
The tour was conducted by the director of the theater Yuri Yakushev and artistic director Dmitry Skirta.
Olga Lyubimova recalled that in 2023 the theater celebrated its 90th anniversary. Over the years, Solomon Kazimirovsky, Abram Madievsky, Mar Sulimov and many other outstanding masters of Russian and world directing have worked here.

“The M. Y. Lermontov Theater is considered one of the most beloved by the residents of Almaty. His productions were also warmly received by the Russian audience. Last year, the theater’s staff performed at festivals in St. Petersburg and Naberezhnye Chelny, as part of the “Big Tour” program in Kirov and Yoshkar-Ola,” the minister noted.

Russian artists are happy to come to Almaty with productions. In 2023, tours of the St. Petersburg Youth Theater and the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater took place on the stage of the M. Y. Lermontov Theater.
It is worth noting that this autumn the Moscow Theater “ET CETERA” will arrive in Almaty under the “Big Tour” program.
