During this visit, cooperation agreements were signed with one of the leading educational institutions in Russia — St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
How will the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute help
Alexey Rudskoy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rector of SPbPU, told Sputnik Kyrgyzstan radio how engineering specialties will be developed in KRSU.
“We came to Kyrgyzstan on the instructions of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the Department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries. Specialists from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education also arrived. They are concerned about the situation at Slavic universities — we have five of them, and each has its own problems. As for the KRSU, today it is not very clear who is being trained at the humanities and medical faculties. The university should produce specialists needed primarily by Kyrgyzstan. The main task for each CIS country is to raise its economy, and we have come to analyze how the specialized faculties feel. We act almost like doctors: we need to create a “medicine” and continue to work together, bringing the patient to full recovery,” Rudskoy said.
According to him, the main task of SPbPU specialists is to develop cooperation with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Construction of KRSU.
“We have conducted a full analysis of the educational process, programs, technical and methodological support, and what management reforms are needed. Our task is to establish engineering and technical training of specialists in the KRSU at a high level. In addition, we are ready to provide all necessary assistance in improving the professional skills of teachers. And students were given the opportunity to connect directly to our open education platform in order to receive absolutely free materials in more than a thousand areas of training,” concluded the rector of SPbPU.
What awaits students of the Faculty of International Relations
Serious changes are coming at the Faculty of International Relations of the KRSU: MGIMO will help him in developing new educational programs.
Vice-Rector Stanislav Surovtsev said that the delegation of the Russian university managed to meet with students and teachers, find out what changes they expect, and later a detailed program was developed, the implementation of each point of which should lead to a specific result.
“We will work in four blocks: educational processes, science and research, personnel (teachers and administrators) and the student environment. Specific plans have been drawn up for each item in order to make the faculty more in demand, promising, and fill it with new competencies. The first step will be a return visit of KRSU students and teachers to MGIMO so that the guys immerse themselves in the Mgimo environment, complete an internship at the Faculty of International Relations, and we will organize separate internships for young scientists,” Surovtsev said.
He noted that the situation in the world is changing rapidly, new centers of power are emerging, and the training of future diplomats should keep up with trends.
“We plan to conduct separate courses and master classes with teachers and young researchers. In particular, we want to increase the publication activity of the faculty: MGIMO specialists will tell you how to write highly rated articles that will be included in indexed journals. We plan to conduct two—level advanced training courses for teachers — online and offline – directly at our university. Also this fall, we are waiting for about 10 KRSU students to graduate from MGIMO in the direction of “Eurasian integration”. We hope that the guys will responsibly prepare for the entrance tests,” said the vice—rector.
He added that MGIMO pays special attention to the development of so-called flexible skills: students should be able to build communication, work in a team and possess leadership qualities. When updating the educational programs of the Faculty of International Relations of the KRSU, special attention will be paid to these parameters.
The “reboot” of the KRSU has been launched
Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, stressed that the new vision of transformations in the KRSU indicates the need to do quite a lot in a very short time.
“The specialists of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University conducted a diagnosis of the university in order to outline the path of future renovations. The curator of the KRSU is the Siberian Federal University, and RUDN, MISIS and Baumanka were also in the orbit of our consultations. This is not accidental: it is necessary to create as many opportunities as possible for both students and teachers with guidance. The “reset” of the cattle should be carried out as efficiently as possible, this is a challenge of the time. Today, universities have new missions: mentoring, students’ “soft” skills, direct projects with businesses. Enterprises in Kyrgyzstan need modern personnel, and the KRSU will change in order to make interaction with them coherent and effective,” Petrova said.
