Last year, Zimbabwe and Belarus actively exchanged visits: for example, Alexander Lukashenko came to the African country, and the wife of Emmerson Mnangagwa came to the republic.

On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated his Zimbabwean counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa and the friendly people of this country on Independence Day.
Congratulations were published by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
As noted in the text, Zimbabwe threw off its colonial shackles 44 years ago. The state has been given the opportunity to pursue an independent foreign and domestic policy aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of the country and improving the quality of life of citizens.
“Belarus is pleased to observe the successful dynamic changes in various sectors of the Zimbabwean economy,” Lukashenko said.
The President of Belarus also believes that an important role is played by the exchange of high-level visits, which strengthen bilateral contacts. He also expressed hope for an early meeting with Emmerson Mnangagwa, which should take place on the territory of Belarus.
“I am convinced that the practical implementation of the agreements reached earlier and the results of your future visit to Belarus will contribute to our strategic partnership and fruitful cooperation focused on the long term,” Lukashenko stressed.
He also wished Mnangagwa good health and success, and the people of Zimbabwe happiness and well-being.

Important meetings and visits

In February, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Aleynik, visited Zimbabwe. He conveyed to the Zimbabwean leader a message from President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko dedicated to the preparation and content of Mnangagwa’s return visit to the republic.
The President of Zimbabwe confirmed that he intends to visit Belarus.
In addition, Aleynik conveyed an invitation to the First Lady of Zimbabwe, Oxilia Mnangagwa, to attend the International Festival of Arts “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk”.
It should be recalled that from January 30 to February 1 last year, the President of Belarus was on a state visit to Zimbabwe, where he held talks with the country’s leader.
The parties discussed a number of topical issues, in particular, the expansion of trade and economic cooperation and cooperative ties. The Belarusian delegation has signed a number of important bilateral treaties and agreements.
Later in March, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe Frederick Shawa arrived in Minsk on a working visit.
In April, the wife of Zimbabwean leader Oxilia Mnangagwa also visited the Belarusian capital. The First Lady of Zimbabwe met with the Belarusian president and the Foreign Minister.
In September, congratulating Happy birthday to Mnangagwa, Lukashenko admitted that he not only highly appreciates friendly relations with the President of Zimbabwe, but also looks forward to a new meeting in order to “continue an open and constructive dialogue.”
