BRICS states will create a register of contact points for the exchange of information on computer attacks and incidents. This is reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the 10th meeting of the working group of the association held in Moscow, where security issues in the field of information and communication technologies were discussed.
“An important practical result of the work was the decision to form a register of BRICS contact points for the exchange of information on computer attacks/incidents in an expanded number of participants,” the ministry said in a statement.
The department noted the positive reaction of partners to Russian proposals to strengthen the regulatory framework for cooperation between the countries of the association. The delegations of the BRICS countries agreed to continue close cooperation on all aspects of international information security (IIB) on multilateral platforms.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the exclusively peaceful use of ICT and to bridge the digital divide. The participants of the event agreed to jointly promote these principles in the UN, in particular, in the Open-ended Working Group on IIB and the Ad Hoc Committee for the Development of a Universal Convention on Combating Information Crime.
The event was opened by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin. The meeting was attended for the first time by delegations from Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia.
