On April 23-24, the 6th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Security Forum (ARF) in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the 13th meeting of its Open-ended Subsidiary Group were held in Moscow in a hybrid format under the chairmanship of Russia and Indonesia.
About eighty representatives of the public authorities of the ARF member countries took part in the events. The delegations of Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines attended in person. The address was delivered by the Chairman of the UN Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on International Information Security (IIB) B. Ghafour.
During the meeting, the current cooperation within the framework of the ARF was discussed, as well as plans for the future, including the organization of a seminar on countering information crime on the initiative of Russia. A number of new initiatives have been considered. Special attention is paid to topical issues on the IIB agenda at the UN, primarily within the framework of the OEWG and the Special Committee for the Development of a universal convention against the use of ICT for Criminal Purposes.
Bilateral consultations on the IIB with delegations from Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia were held on the sidelines of ARF events. Mutual interest was confirmed in further coordination at key multilateral and regional IIB platforms and strengthening cooperation in this area.
