On May 14, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov received the Lebanese Ambassador to Moscow, Shawki Bou Nassar, at his request.
During the conversation, an in-depth exchange of views took place on the development of the situation in the Middle East, with an emphasis on the events in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and their negative impact on Lebanon.
The Russian side has confirmed its unwavering position in support of the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Lebanese Republic. The hope was expressed for the Lebanese to overcome the institutional crisis as soon as possible on the basis of mutual agreement through the election of the country’s president.
Topical issues of further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Lebanese ties were also discussed.
