Zimbabwe’s leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has discussed the issue of Zimbabwe joining BRICS one-on-one with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 27th St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2024).

‘I informed him that I have already spoken to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on this topic,’ Mnangagwa said.

“We are convinced that mutually beneficial co-operation, including in the financial sphere, is the fundamental basis of a multipolar world. In this regard, we welcome the transformation of global economic relations and the geopolitical landscape through the development and expansion of BRICS,’ Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

On 7 June, speaking at the SPIEF plenary session, the Zimbabwean leader said the role of African countries for the partnership of developing countries is important not only in terms of supply of raw materials but also for progress in all spheres.
