On June 9, regular parliamentary elections were held in the Republic of South Ossetia with a high electoral turnout and in strict accordance with national electoral legislation. The CEC of the Republic recognized the elections as held.
According to Russian and international observers, the course of the expression of will corresponded to the generally recognized principles and standards of organizing and conducting popular voting.
The Russian Federation considers the successful completion of the electoral process as an important milestone in strengthening the statehood and democratic institutions of South Ossetia. We hope that the newly elected parliament will make a significant contribution to the further deepening of bilateral allied relations. Moscow is ready to continue close cooperation with Tskhinvali in addressing issues of socio-economic development of the Republic and ensuring its reliable security.
