The meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS SGG will be held on October 7 and 8 in Moscow

The meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) and the Council of Heads of State (SGG) of the CIS will be held on October 7 and 8 in Moscow, draft agendas of meetings are still being discussed, First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Leonid Anfimov told reporters.

The growth of mutual investments will ensure the economic security of the CIS countries

“Foreign direct investment is currently the engine of the entire economic development, the main technological development of our countries. And considering that the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation have been subjected to such harsh economic sanctions, sanctions pressure from Western countries, which were once the main partners in many types of economic activities, I believe that increasing mutual investments will ensure the economic security of our states,” Leonid Anfimov said.

“To date, the volume of foreign direct investment in the CIS countries has reached $45.6 billion,” added the First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS. – It seems to be a big number, on the one hand. On the other hand, if you spread it out by country and considering the scale of the Russian economy, this is not a very large figure. And I think as an economist, in order for us to really function normally and not depend on anyone from the West, the volume of these investments should increase at least tenfold.”
