Belarus and Russia are implementing joint projects aimed at the scientific and technological development of the Union State, 60 programs have already been implemented in various fields, and a number of other projects are under development. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak during a plenary session on the topic “The role of interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy of the Union State,” BelTA has learned.

“Over the years, cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the scientific, technical and innovative fields has made a significant contribution to the positive dynamics of the development of social and economic ties, increasing trade turnover between our countries. In conditions of global instability and sanctions restrictions, ensuring technological sovereignty, effective import substitution, and modernization of production has become a vital necessity,” Anatoly Sivak said.

He recalled that in January 2024, the strategy of scientific and technological development of the SG for the period up to 2035 was approved. “The document contains specific measures to strengthen common technological sovereignty, including the implementation of joint programs and projects to create competitive products with high added value. Currently, more than 60 programs have been implemented in the field of space technologies, microelectronics, information technology, mechanical engineering, medicine and many others. This year, three scientific and technical programs are being implemented in the field of developing basic elements of spacecraft, components for vehicle control systems, and the development of new samples of laser technology. A number of new SG programs in the field of high technologies are under preparation. This is the development of on-board facilities and equipment for small spacecraft, equipment for solar energy, new drugs for early diagnosis of cancer, technology for highly productive agriculture and much more,” Anatoly Sivak said.

The XI Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia on the topic “The role of interregional cooperation in building an innovative economy of the Union State” is being held on June 27-28 in Vitebsk, Polotsk and Novopolotsk. The event is organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
