On July 8, 2024, the Forum “The Year of Ecology of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – 2024” will be held in Qingdao (People’s Republic of China). The organizers are the SCO Secretariat, the Ministry of Ecology and Environmental Protection of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese SCO Committee for Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the People’s Government of Shandong Province. The event will bring together heads of ministries and departments responsible for environmental protection, representatives of international organizations and business structures, environmental experts and diplomats from the SCO family countries.
The Forum is an important stage in the implementation of the decision taken by the SCO leaders in New Delhi in 2023 to declare 2024 the “Year of the SCO Ecology”. The discussion will consist of panel sessions on the topics “The main environmental challenges and the practical experience of the SCO countries in overcoming them” and “The efforts of the SCO countries to manage global biodiversity”. This will be part of the SCO Forum on Green Development, which also includes sessions on “Technological Innovations to enhance opportunities for Green and High-quality Development” and “Climate Action to promote green low-carbon Transformation”.
