The meeting of the expert group on the coordination of the draft Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports took place on July 10 at the headquarters of the CIS.
The experts finalized and generally agreed on the document. It was decided to submit it in accordance with the established procedure for consideration by the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS.
The draft Statement speaks about the special importance of dialogue on international sports cooperation, the role of sport as a unique tool for the development and strengthening of social and economic ties, building mutually respectful communication, strengthening interstate relations in the spirit of peace and good-neighborliness. The document emphasizes that sport is one of the inalienable human rights that have an unconditional, universal and mass character, and notes the importance of interaction between the CIS countries within the framework of the Council on Physical Culture and Sport.
