On October 11, 2024, a meeting of the expert group on the development of a draft Agreement on cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the development of heavy engineering industries was held at the Office of the CIS Executive Committee in Moscow.
The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
The Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee Myskin M.E. addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
The meeting of the expert group was chaired by the Adviser of the Department for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan

The draft Agreement was developed by the Republic of Tajikistan in order to stimulate the deepening of cooperation in the field of heavy engineering of the CIS member states, the introduction of modern technologies and innovations, the development and exchange of new production technologies and competencies to increase economic efficiency, technological and innovative modernization, resource conservation and environmental safety, and increase the competitiveness of heavy engineering products of the Commonwealth countries.
The experts discussed in detail and generally approved the draft document. The second meeting of the expert group is scheduled for November–December 2024.
It is expected that the Agreement will create conditions for interaction between the CIS member states to expand interstate cooperation in the field of industrial policy and combine efforts for the further development of heavy machinery industries in modern conditions.
