The IV Congress of Young Scientists of Russia will be held under the main theme “Priorities of scientific and technological development: creating the future today”

The IV Congress of Young Scientists will be held under the main theme “Priorities of scientific and technological development: creating the future today”. The program will bring together discussions on new technologies, answers to big challenges, high-tech business, development of scientific potential, international scientific communication, the role and achievements of Russian science in the context of international cooperation with the BRICS countries and global development. The implementation of the Decade of Science and Technology initiatives will also be discussed during the IV Congress. The event will take place on the federal territory of Sirius on November 27-29, 2024.

“The program of the IV Congress of Young Scientists this year is focused on the development of international scientific communication and uniting the efforts of scientists to solve global problems. The trend towards the complication and improvement of technologies in the world is developing rapidly, and it can be said that at today’s stage, technology plays an important role in shaping a new world order. That is why it is so important to discuss issues of technological development in the BRICS format, an alliance of countries that are becoming architects of a new world order. Science and technology should become a pillar for the alliance in its formation as a new center of power and global leader,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, head of the interdepartmental working group on the preparation and holding of the Congress of Young Scientists and satellite events.

“The upcoming Congress is an occasion to sum up the interim results of the Decade of Science and Technology. This year, the Strategy of Scientific and Technological Development was updated, priorities were identified and new national development goals were formulated. What role Russian science should play in achieving them – this topic will be the focus of attention of the Congress participants. Its distinctive feature will be the participation of guests from the BRICS countries: I am sure that working in this format will be useful for us and our guests,” said Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Secretary of the Coordinating Committee for the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia.

The business program of the IV Congress of Young Scientists will include discussions on four main areas.

The track “Big challenges and priorities of scientific and technological development” will discuss materials and technology of a new generation, fundamental scientific research as the basis of the country’s competitiveness, bioeconomics, artificial intelligence in science – large–scale tasks requiring the combined efforts of the state and the scientific community, an interdisciplinary approach and a non-trivial view of scientific problems. The discussions will focus on the development of engineering and mathematics education to ensure technological sovereignty and the role of critical technologies in changing historical orders. There will also be an open dialogue “30 questions for startups who could.”

Within the framework of the sessions on “Science without Borders: sharing principles, uniting minds”, the role of BRICS in shaping a polycentric world order, cooperation between Russia and China as world scientific and technological leaders, scientific and educational cooperation for the sustainable development of African countries, as well as applied issues of international scientific cooperation: opportunities for young scientists, attracting foreign students in Russian universities, the preservation of scientific communication in an era of political contradictions. The discussions will take place with the participation of guests of the BRICS Young Scientists Forum and the BRICS Young Innovators Competition, which will start on the federal territory of Sirius on November 25 and continue at the site of the IV Congress of Young Scientists.

The program track dedicated to the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia will summarize the results of the implementation of initiatives for 2024 to popularize science, attract young people and children to science, develop scientific volunteerism and popular science tourism. There will also be sessions dedicated to mentoring in science and the development of services for scientists aimed at optimizing scientific work and involving scientists in solving the problems of the country’s development. As part of the track, the results of the satellite events of the IV Congress of Young Scientists in the Murmansk Region and the Republic of Dagestan will be summed up. During the satellites, scientists from all over the country have developed high-tech solutions for the development of key industries of the customer regions: shipbuilding, geology, avalanche safety, agriculture.

Discussions in the direction of “Development resources: people, ideas, infrastructure” will touch upon issues of scientific entrepreneurship and the development of high-tech business, investments in scientific research and the implementation of research projects, conditions for the conversion of fundamental knowledge into world-class technologies. A number of sessions will be devoted to the development of scientific personnel: issues of training a modern engineer, personnel for the environmental industry, IT education for scientists, as well as the role of women scientists in the development of the scientific and educational sphere and the place of pedagogy in the life of a scientist. The presentation of the expert report “Scientific personnel of Russia: trends, problems, prospects” will take place within the framework of the section.

The program of the IV Congress will include events of the Scientific Lounge, meetings with outstanding scientists and business representatives and the traditional School of the Russian Science Foundation. There will also be a meeting of the councils of young scientists and student scientific societies with the coordinators of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Scientific-educational spheres of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education.
