During the conversation, the current military and political situation in the Gaza Strip was discussed, with an emphasis on the humanitarian crisis, which has reached catastrophic proportions. At the same time, special attention was paid by the Russian side to the problem of the early release of hostages from among Russian citizens.
During the exchange of views on the need to restore Palestinian national unity, the readiness of Russian diplomacy to continue to promote the consolidation of Palestinian political forces and movements on the PLO’s political platform was confirmed. They also stressed the immutability of Russia’s position in support of a just settlement of the Palestinian problem on the basis of the existing international legal framework providing for the creation of an independent Palestinian State within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace and security with the State of Israel.
