The leading media of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Middle East News Agency (MENA), has joined the information exchange with the BRICS+ countries through the TV BRICS media network. The start of cooperation is timed to coincide with the XVI BRICS summit in Kazan. The document on joint activities was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the editor-in-chief of MENA Ahmed Kamal and TV BRICS CEO Zhanna Tolstikova.

The partners agreed to join forces in order to strengthen Egypt’s position in the international media space and widely inform the population of the republic about the activities of the BRICS association.

“The Memorandum of Cooperation between Middle East News Agency and TV BRICS represents an important step towards strengthening media cooperation and mutual understanding between the BRICS countries, spreading truthful information about events taking place in these countries, and combating fake news. Egypt’s official accession to the BRICS, which took place on January 1, 2024, was an important milestone in the development of strategic cooperation aimed at promoting the interests of emerging economies in the international arena and increasing the influence of the Global South. Egypt is constantly working to strengthen economic, trade, cultural and media cooperation with the BRICS countries, which together represent about 50% of the world’s population. In particular, Egypt is developing mechanisms for interaction in the field of mass media, which will allow the BRICS participants to strengthen the interstate dialogue,” Ahmed Kamal said.

The Middle East News Agency was established in 1955. Publishes news in Arabic, English and French. It is under the jurisdiction of the Cabinet of Ministers of Egypt. The headquarters is located in Cairo. MENA is one of the founders of the Islamic News Agency (INA), the Pan-African News Agency (PANA), the Pool of News Agencies of Non-Aligned Countries, the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), the Association of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN).

Zhanna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, noted that for almost 70 years of operation, Middle East News Agency has proved to be a reliable information platform providing its readers with proven and high-quality content. According to her, cooperation with MENA will allow achieving high results in establishing an intercultural dialogue between Egypt and the BRICS countries, as well as the partner states of the association.

Previously, the Daily News Egypt news agency became a partner of TV BRICS in Egypt.
